HAMMER FORGING PROCESS
Hammer forging is basically the same as was done by the old blacksmith, except that the forging power come from a steam or air hammer instead of a hammer swung by by hand.

Both the hammer and anvil are flat, and the desired shape is obtained by turning the workpiece between the hammer blows. Accessories may be used for punching holes, cutting off sections, and for producing cylinder shapes. Close accuracy cannot be obtained and only parts of relatively simple shapes can be made. Forgings of up to 200,000 pounds can be made using this process.

ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES

Forging results in a strong grain structure workpiece which can be machined into a very strong finished part.

Hammer forging is very expensive, and only yields a basic shape which will require extensive machining to finish.

SECONDARY OPERATIONS
Conventional or Precision CNC Machining
Heat Treating
Surface Finishing - Etching, Vibration, Grinding, and Polishing
Plating - Anodizing - Painting - Powder Coating
Certified Metallurgical and Non-Destructive Testing
